Modifications - Thermal Coatings

Thermal coatings are designed to keep heat where it is supposed to be - in the exhaust. Hot exhaust is lighter and therefore faster flowing exhaust. Unshielded headers and downpipes keeps heat closer to the cylinder head which can rob power.  The goal is to get the hot gases to spin your turbine quickly and efficiently and then get rid of them, taking heat away from the combustion chamber and cylinder head. Thermal coatings assist here by keeping the heat in the pipes and therefore in the exhaust gases where it can be transported out the exhaust system. Hot gases are lighter and therefore flow much more readily toward the tailpipe.  All this adds up to more horsepower.  Reduced lag is also a benefit becuase the exhaust gas temperatures remain more consistently hot.  Lighter exhaust means the turbines do not have to work as much to push cooler and denser exhaust gases out the tailpipe.
